( lalli would actually argue that there are plenty of higher-ups, even if the gods of asgard don't count (which lalli is still on the fence about). just because emil is a godless swede doesn't mean that tapio and mielikki didn't guide his path when he scouted the woods of keuruu, or that he couldn't ask kuu for the moon's protection even as far off as the silent world.
here, though, they're on their own.
not that it seems like a very dangerous place. if anything, lalli's more annoyed by it than anything - pulling them away from their house, the people they know. from familiarity, too. lalli wouldn't say that he's gotten soft in asgard, but he has gotten accustomed to it. found a peace with the place, in some ways even more than the one he had back in their own world. however harmless this place seems, there's still a wariness that comes with not quite knowing what to expect from it.
here in the moment, though, he shares emil's sense of focus, his raised hood the only outward sign of his disquiet. though later when he's properly scouting, he'll cover ground more quickly, for now he keeps pace beside the swede, gaze scanning the trees - for somewhere to stay, but also for anything else worth noting.
'if these things exist, they better be livable.' the initial complaint went unacknowledged, but this one earns a quiet, dry huff of breath. ) We lived in a tank. ( 'livable' is pretty relative. )
